Osage River Fishing Adventure

This is the time of the year that I enjoy fishing the most. During the winter a guy can get out on the water and find the peace and solitude of not having to deal with a lot of boat traffic like most times of the year. Also during the winter is when I have caught some of my biggest fish ever. Usually the fish will stack up in predictable places out of the current and there some some fantastic days to be had fishing as long as the weather cooperates.

This past weekend we got out on the Osage River to do some fishing below Bagnell Dam and the fishing was on fire. We ended up catching a ton of largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, a couple of really nice paddlefish, and a really nice walleye.

It was a cloudy and cold day to be on the water but a really productive one. I was breaking in my new Bassinator Elite Reels from KastKing. I just recently partnered with Kastking and I was trying out my new reels as well as my Kastking Speed Demon Pro Rods. The two rod actions that I used throughout the day was a 7'3 worm/jig rod that I used to throw my small finesse jigs and also did well throwing an Alabama rig. I got to break in the 6'8'' Square Bill Cranking rod throwing jerkbaits, small spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits as well and it worked great for these different techniques. I was able to land two paddle fish on the 7'3 Jig/worm rod so I was really able to test out it's strength as well as it's power.

The jig of choice was a 5/16th oz Tackle HD stealth jig tipped with a green pumpkin trailer. I managed to catch the biggest bass of the trip on this setup.

Pretty soon we will be on Christmas break and I'm looking forward to some more exciting days on the water. I'm sure we will be catching a lot of fish in the next couple weeks since we have a couple more trips planned.

Be sure to check out my page on Facebook called Spencer Clark Fishing that I just recently created.
